corruite
Used corrugated cardboard boxes – collected from municipal paper recycling bins and local businesses – are layered and glued together to form a durable material capable of supporting a person's weight. The creator produces the adhesive in her own kitchen using only bio-based ingredients. Cardboard scraps left over from production are collected, shredded, and pulped with water into a homogeneous mass used for finishing.
Natural pigments can be added to color the material, while beeswax is used to protect it from moisture. Depending on the chosen finish, the cardboard remains recyclable or can be safely composted at home. The materials used consist of a mixture of brown compost, thereby acting as a soil fertilizer and enriching the earth. An independent designer developed this material and uses it to create furniture, interior décor, and fashion accessories.
