BIOMATERIALS LIBRARY

The Biomaterials Library is the first and only collection in Lithuania of innovative materials freely available to all, which reflects the current design and production trends.

The focus is on ecological and environmentally friendly biomaterials, so the project develops ideas for sustainable design, applying a circular approach to all resources and waste materials.

Collected samples of the Biomaterials Library perfectly complement the theoretical information to better understand the material itself, see the aesthetic and functional properties, touch the surfaces, feel the textures or even smell the materials. This provides particularly valuable knowledge of current biomaterials that we can use to develop a range of products for sustainable design solutions.

The Biomaterials Library is a constantly changing and expanding collection of biomaterial samples that allows for the exploration of materials in both physical and virtual ways. This library is giving people access to the information they need to work, play, learn, develop or implement projects in different fields. This unique collection is carefully curated and organised to create a space to search, reflect and explore alternatives that can be compared, thus promoting real-world applications of biomaterials. The Biomaterials Library creates a link between the past and the future, from traditional materials and construction methods to smart biomaterials or even living materials.

The Biomaterials Library is acting as a gateway to the world of environmentally friendly design possibilities, where science, nature, technology and creativity go hand in hand. Together, these areas form the foundation of a sustainable creative community and provide ample space for the thinking and creative person. The innovative collection of biomaterials is very important for both students and companies who are looking for inspiration and need to explore different opportunities in the market in order to choose more sustainable, environmentally friendly and greener solutions in their production processes. The collected and constantly updated samples perfectly complement the theoretical information and written resources to better understand the material itself, to see the aesthetic and functional properties. This provides extremely valuable knowledge about current biomaterials that we could use in development of a various products, looking for sustainable design solutions. The Biomaterials Library is not only a source of inspiration while exploring new possibilities, but a significant step towards a circular economy and the implementation of the EU European Green Course Agreement to achieve the EU to become the first climate-neutral continent. This engagement level successfully transfers technological know-how, environmental credentials, and appropriate biomaterial applications, offering a new level of opportunity for creation.
